I've enjoyed listening to Mary and Jen as two of the notable Nerd Avengers. I'm really enjoying reading what Mary has written. I read it with warm thoughts of Mary writing each phrase. It makes it so much more enjoyable when I feel like I know the author.

This is going to be fun!! Thanks

I’m late to the party, but must say I’m so glad Noro yarn got a shout out. I know I’m in the safe hands of some proper yarn connoisseurs. I’ve been eyeing it off for so long and am saving up for a garment quantity of it. Makes me love the main character even more! And yay for no small talk or traveling in packs. One person at a time is plenty for me.

I’m just thrilled you found time to reply. Your characters are building beautifully, and I like your main protagonist’s inner monologue about how & whether to be ‘open’ & available to people. It is often a personal choice in one’s own culture but it is much more complicated when a new one is added to the pot. Eg I was just reading about Americans house hunting in France and they sent out their ‘resume’ & needs to loads of realtors & got no response as the rural French still do real conversations & face to face contact & you need try French at least in the first instance. You might also find https://m.youtube.com/@NickiPositano helpful, and English make up artist living on the Amalfi Coast & married to an Italian. She digs into life in her area & speaks fluent Italian. Hope you don’t mind the suggestions. Love to you

Mary is the best taker of suggestions you ever saw, Anna!!

Well she has great friends and collaborators! I also hear how interested & concerned she is for other people on her podcast. x

Love it!!! Again the description put feeling and smelling angora yarn

Isn't angora the best, Robin! Like nestling a very fragrant goat!

I love the leisurely exposition in your piece ! This is usually I where I develop the empathy for the protagonist that holds my interest to continue reading. Also...your lush mood and setting have hooked me. I love it all so far!💫

Lush Mood!

Egggzactly, Janice!

More, more, more! Can't wait for the next installment! Well done!! I Have to share this with a friend of mine; she lives part time in Italy and is considering moving there for good. This reminds me a lot of her.

"More" is our favorite word, Ellen!

A cafe, a yarn shop and a main character that doesn’t do small talk make me love it already. All it needs is a murder to solve?

OK, you've hooked me! I do needlework instead of knitting but have been a fiber fanatic most of my life. Your description was wonderful and I could see and smell it as if it was across the table from me. Keep up the great work!

Speaking of Dante, I am getting enticing echoes of The Purgatorio: When we had crossed the threshold of the door Which the perverted love of souls disuses, Because it makes the crooked way seem straight..." And also "the crooked way" from Isaiah. And the door brings to mind Alice in Wonderland and the armoire as doorway to Narnia. And on and on. Very evocative. I am hooked.

I think we need a third episode to be enticed into buying this serial. Give me a chapter with a cliffhanger and I’ll be hooked. So far we’ve met a few women and heard about some yarn and some beauty in the location.

What’s the hook?

I’m inclined to support this because of who you (creative team) are (🥰) and because Joyce Vance recommended your project.

But couldn’t you try a little harder before I give up 50 of my very meager old lady dollars?

I’d rather be sucked in by your story than your celebrity.

Diana! Hail! You're right, we all love cliffhangers! And Mary's got cliffhangers, twists, dark turns, and evil swerves coming up, not to mention a couple of villains. But, Mary, Jen and I are old school. We like setting the scene and getting to know the characters before Mary starts hurtling them towards that cliff!

A pack ... hmmm...A dozen or so years ago my phone rang and my former secretary asked me what I was up to? I said I was at the mall. She asked who was with me? I said no one. She could not relate to that and said it would never occur to her to go ANYWHERE without her friends. I thought there must be something wrong with her and she felt the same way about me. To this day, we laugh hysterically about that exchange. Knitting with NORO yarn at this very moment. I feel right at home with The Italian Lesson.

I knitted during my earlier teenage years during cold Michigan winters in front of a roaring fire. Nothing fancy. Just the basic scarves, hats, mittens, sweater pieces, and comforters. I can't help but chuckle. I will be impressed if your weekly installments send me down the google and YouTube rabbit holes of knitting...

It’s the tension that I could never get right when I tried to knit, either too tight or so relaxed it made a polo neck into an off-the-shoulder number. But Mary’s tension is just right. The local wools part reminded me if this lovely documentary vlog https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=vI8uPGgpwjs&t=502s

Noro Silk Garden! It's so hard to find in Tacoma that I might need to travel to a fictional place to get some.
